"Just to do better and learn to come together and stop racism," Navaeh said.

Her parents say they are excited that she wrote the book.

"When the George Floyd incident happened and I saw her crying on the bed, and she came right back to me and said 'daddy we have to do something about racism and I want to complete this particular project,'" said James Culmer, Nevaeh's father. "The context of the book is saying adults are not setting a good example for the younger ones behind them. She just wants everyone to know that if we as 11-year-olds can get along, so should adults as well."

"I am super excited. I'm glad she has a voice and feelings towards what's going on and what's happening in the world today," said Kamikah Culmer, Nevaeh's mother.

Navaeh says the death of Floyd and Breonna Taylor motivated her to finish the book in four months.

"It just wasn't right to me. It kind of made me cry a little bit because it wasn't good or right for people to do that," she said.

Nevaeh encourages love, peace and unity around the country. Her book can be purchased at blessedwithwords.org.
