CHRIS CONLEY

Lifelong Belle Center resident Chris Conley is sharing first-hand advice and practical insights in his recently published book, The 8 Facets of Life.

To reach area residents with his book, the author is hosting two “meet and drink” events at area coffee shops — from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, at Jitterz Coffee Company in Kenton, and from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Sweet Aromas, 120 E. Court Ave., Bellefontaine.

At the events, he will offer a one-time discount on the book, which will be available for a $10 donation for a soft cover copy.

The title, The 8 Facets of Life, first started in the Kenton Times nearly five years ago. Since then, Conley has had a weekly column in the Kenton newspaper and periodically in the Bellefontaine Examiner as well.

In his writings, he’s attempted to challenge readers to “enjoy life, make the most of every day and always give 100 percent,” he said.

“My hope is to bring up what’s worked for me as well as what hasn’t, what I’ve learned from others that make sense and point people in the right direction, so they can learn more.”

He’s shared short stories, usually motivational, and some humorous as well.
In his diagram of the eight facets of life, he said faith is at the bottom, as explained in a previous Examiner column.

“My logic for placing it there is it’s the foundation of our lives, or at least it should be in my opinion.

“I know I haven’t always felt that way. I’m ashamed to admit it, but I just never understood it years ago. I always thought it was right to put family first. After all I helped bring these children into the world, what loving father wouldn’t look out for them.

“Then I realized that’s exactly what God has done for us. He brought us into this world and gives us every good thing we’ll experience. If I choose to serve Him first, why wouldn’t He in turn bless me. (Don’t mistake my using the term blessings as a life with no problems). It’s a matter of getting our priorities in order.”

The eight other facets of life he details includes: health, finance, family, personal development, career, finance and fun/joy.

The Honda of America retiree said enjoys helping others be better and he readily shares ways he has found to do just that.

The 8 Facets of Life can be purchased anywhere books are sold for $14.99.
