RMSC hosts 'Changemakers' Book Club | Lifestyles | thedailynewsonline.com - The Daily News Online

The Rochester Museum & Science Center is celebrating its exhibit, “The Changemakers: Rochester Women Who Changed the World,” by hosting a virtual book club.

The club will focus on a new book every month, written by some of the women featured in “The Changemakers” exhibit. Each monthly discussion will be conducted virtually and include an interactive book discussion and question-and-answer session with the author.

The upcoming book line-up includes (all sessions begin at 6 p.m.):

n Feb. 26: Reading “Collard Green Curves: A Fat Girl’s Journey from Childhood Obesity to Healthy Living,” written by Theresa Lou Bowick.

n March 26: Reading “Martha Matilda Harper and the American Dream: How One woman Changed the Face Of Modern Business,” written by Jane Plitt.

n April 23: Reading “Girls Resist! A Guide to Activism, Leadership, and Starting a Revolution,” written by KaeLyn Rich

Copies of the book are included in the cost of registration ($15). Books can be picked up at the front desk of the RMSC Museum after completing the registration.

The book club will meet virtually via Zoom every month through the end of the exhibit run. “The Changemakers: Rochester Women Who Changed the World” closes May 16.

Among the women featured in “The Changemakers” is Le Roy native Dorothy Layne McIntyre, who was the first African American woman to earn a pilot’s license under the Civil Aeronautics Authority. McIntyre was born in Le Roy in 1917.
