Notre Dame Football: Ian Book’s ceiling and floor in the NFL Draft - Slap the Sign

senewsberita.blogspot.com

Notre Dame Football will see plenty of players selected across the three-day 2021 NFL Draft, and here is the ceiling and floor for Ian Book.

The 2021 NFL Draft kicks off with the first round on Thursday night and based on all the mock drafts we have seen, the Notre Dame Football program is going to be well-represented. This is a special group of players, guys who have been to two College Football Playoffs and have won at least ten games in each of the last four seasons.

While not expected to go anywhere close to the first round, one player that fans of the Notre Dame Football program will keep their eyes on is quarterback Ian Book. Arriving on campus as a three-star recruit, Book went on to be the all-time winningest quarterback in program history, passing legends along the way.

Since the season ended, he has been improving his draft stock, and we take a look at where he may land in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Here’s a look at when Notre Dame football fans can expect to see Ian Book taken with his ceiling & floor

While Book won a ton of games at Notre Dame and led them to two College Football Playoffs, he is not considered a Day 1 or Day 2 selection. Instead, we will have to likely wait until Day 3 to see where No. 12 goes, if he goes at all.

Ian Book’s draft ceiling

Looking across the latest mock drafts, we have seen Ian Book go anywhere from early in the fifth round, to not drafted at all. That is what is so interesting about his case going into the 2021 NFL Draft, as he has the tape to be selected, but some may feel he does not have the size, or even arm to be a contributor at the next level.

Then some feel he could actually be a No. 2 at the next level, and those are the teams that are going to take a chance on him. I believe the ceiling for Book would be a late fourth-round pick or early fifth-round pick in his best-case scenario.

Ian Book’s draft floor

Unfortunately for Book, the floor for him in the 2021 NFL Draft is to not be drafted at all, as some mock drafts believe that will be the case for him. Sure, he will likely latch on as an undrafted free agent if he is not selected across the three-day event, but there is nothing like hearing your name called, even if it is the seventh round.

This is a draft class that is loaded with quarterback talent at the top, and then a big gap between those five or six signal-callers and the rest of the class. Maybe Book did enough to show teams they should take him over some of the other low-level draft prospects in this class, but we just hope he can land somewhere that he is given a chance to earn a job.
