A reception will be held at the AIM Center, 472 West Martin Luther King Blvd. Thursday to reveal a new book titled, Drawn Together: An AIM Center Anthology.
Drawn Together: An AIM Center Anthology is a culmination of the writing and artwork created by Members of the AIM Center between March 2020 to January 2021.
"The Anthology reveals the emotions members dealt with during COVID-19 and showcases the hope they have in their lives," officials said. "Their images and words express a beauty for life that comes from an appreciation of their gifts and a longing to contribute to their community. This Anthology stands as a testament against stigma, that powerful mark of disgrace associated with having mental illness, which steals a person’s self-worth. The Weldon F. Osborne Foundation, Inc. funded the publication of this book for which AIM is most grateful. The Members of the AIM Center are not identified or defined by their mental illness. Drawn Together: An AIM Center Anthology offers its readers the opportunity to see beyond stigma and delight in a beautiful publication."
“I am so excited to be able to launch such an amazing publication that gives so much inspiration and insight,” said Donna Maddox, executive director of the AIM Center. Ms. Maddox goes on to state, “This book allows us to better understand and support those who daily struggle with their mental health.”
The Anthology is available for a minimum donation of $20 to www.aimcenterinc.org. Proceeds will assist the AIM Center in serving uninsured and underinsured mentally ill adults who live in the Chattanooga-Hamilton County area.
