Steckenrider secured his eighth save in a win over the Diamondbacks on Friday, firing a perfect ninth inning during which he struck out the side.
The hard-throwing right-hander was dominant in his one frame, getting 10 of his 15 pitches into the strike zone to authoritatively slam the door. Steckenrider is now 8-for-11 in save opportunities and has recorded half of those saves in his last 10 trips to the mound. With a 1.70 ERA and 0.98 WHIP across 58.1 innings, the 30-year-old is rivaling Paul Sewald for closing duties at the moment.
