Many people get to the end of the month and wonder where their money went.
Sometimes people don’t realize how much they could really save by cutting a few things out that aren’t actual necessities.
Here are five ways you can save around $500
Get rid of cable and the contract it comes with. Cable prices range from $120 to $140 per month, if not more.
Many preferred channels or networks can be found through a streaming service like Amazon Prime, HBO Max, or Hulu. Those range from $5.99 to $14.99 per month.
Groceries are another way you can cut costs and save money. Households on average spend $7,729 in a year on food.
Ways to save include ordering groceries online so you don’t overbuy thanks to product placement in stores, using coupons, crafting a list to stay within a budget, and buying with coupons.
Eating at home and not out can also save families a chunk of change. Americans spent an average of $3,459 going out to eat in 2018, including dining out and fast food.
This means a person spends around $288 per month on eating out. Homecooked meals could save people a lot of money.
Finding a bank account that doesn’t charge monthly fees for things like checking and savings accounts could also save money every month.
Some banks have ATM fees of up to $7.65 which can really add up.
Many people could open a bank account somewhere that incentivizes it and pays the customer to open an account there.
Finally, looking for cheaper car insurance could save you money every month.
Sometimes even making changes to your own insurance is the answer, and linking your homeowner’s and car insurances will give you a bigger discount.
