BLOOMINGTON (WEEK) - Imagination. That's what author Jillian Duchnowitz wants to inspire with her new book 'Cassidy and the Lost Fairy of Allerton.'

"The book kind of from an adult perspective is an attempt to encourage children to really use their imagination, think what could be here. Or what if this. And it's also an attempt to introduce children to Allerton park. There's a lot of cool things to see at Allerton," explained Duchnowitz.

She said the idea for the story came to her as she was walking through Allerton Park in Monticello, Illinois. She poked her head through a hole in an evergreen tree and saw a big open space. In that space she imagined a child doing the same, poking her head through only to find a lost fairy.

From there, Duchnowitz decided to make the book happen. She'd spent her career as a journalist in different capacities, so writing was nothing new.

The book features a journey through the park from the perspective of a fairy, telling the tales of the other park residents like the 'Fu Dogs' and ' The Sun Singer.'

The book illustrates many real pieces of art from Allerton Park, a short hour and a half drive from Peoria.

The book is available on Amazon and at this link.
