Last week’s results

We asked you about starting third basemen for the D-backs, and we got our first unanimous pick of the series. 88 people tried their hand, and 88 of them got Matt Williams. Of course, it might have been a bit of a help that we discussed him at length in the article, in reference to his time at shortstop, and the pic illustrating it was also of Williams... Eduardo Escobar also crossed the 90% threshold, while Jake Lamb fell fractionally short. At the other end of the spectrum, occupying the “Who’s he?” podium were Bobby Crosby, Brian Barden and Jeff Cirillo. Nobody at all got the last-named, even though he started five games at the hot corner for the Diamondbacks in 2007.

Here are the full results, along with the number of qualifying games for each person.

This week’s quiz

We’re moving back to pitchers, and in particular relievers. This week’s topic is players who have saved more than one game for Arizona. I was initially going to make it anyone with a save, but there are a whopping seventy-one of them. Given that more than a third of those (26, to be precise) had just one save. I decided to make the cutoff multiple saves. I’ve seen the list, and think you’d probably only get most of the names by randomly guessing D-backs pitchers. Still, if you want a challenge, see if you can come with them. I’ll put the list at the end. Their omission gets the list back to a more manageable 45 names, and with them tending to be our best closers, most should be recognizable names.

I’d say most dedicated fans should be able to get at least half, but let us know who you got and/or missed in the comments. It’s embedded below, or here’s the link.

Here are the pitchers with one save for Arizona. Zach Duke, Yoan López, Willie Banks, Vladimir Núñez, Tyler Clippard, Troy Brohawn, Trevor Cahill, Travis Bergen, Taylor Clarke, T.J. McFarland, Silvino Bracho, Scott Service, Russ Springer, Mike Fetters, Matt Koch, Matt Andriese, Jon Duplantier, John Patterson, Joe Paterson, Darren Holmes, Dan Plesac, Buddy Groom, Brian Anderson, Brady Raggio, Bobby Chouinard and Alan Embree. I trust you now understand why I didn’t include them!
