The Northern Tier Library is open for in-person browsing. Computer use remains by appointment only. Returned items will be quarantined for at least 72 hours, but often longer, before being checked in. A variety of programs and services are being offered remotely. Pot of Gold raffle

Is the luck of the Irish with you? Take a chance (or 10!) with the library’s St. Patrick’s Day raffle! The winner will receive a free kit for the What’s Brewing, Pittsburgh? beer tasting event April 9, along with a $25 Applebee’s gift card and a book of Irish folklore.

Tickets are $1 each or 10 tickets for $5. The winner will be drawn March 17.

Easter craft bundles

Request your Easter-themed bundle and enjoy family time working on festive activities and decorations. Kits will be available for pickup inside the Northern Tier Library lobby beginning March 29. Registration will close on March 22, so please request your kit before this date. For children of all ages and their families.

Outdoor egg hunt

Join the Northern Tier Library at 5 p.m. March 26 for an outdoor event to search for eggs. Bring your basket and comfortable shoes to walk around grass or wet surfaces. Eggs will be hidden around the library’s grounds. This event is weather permitting and requires participants to wear face coverings and keep social distance between families.

March Book Madness

Help us crown the best book of 2020!

The top 16 books reviewed on Goodreads were selected as contestants. The brackets were created by teaming up the top seed with the bottom seed, until all books were matched. Download and print out the chart from the library’s website and get to work. Choose books that you’ve read — or want to read. Check out reviews. Talk to your friends. Come up with your method, and don’t stop until you’ve picked a winner.

Completed charts will be accepted March 16-31. Drop them off, mail them in or send them via email to northerntierlibrary@gmail.com. Just like the NCAA, our winner will be announced April 5.

Take-home Maker Mondays

Pine Center Maker Mondays are now virtual. Even though you can’t visit in person at the Pine Center, Maker Mondays will continue in a virtual format. Every Monday, a tutorial video will be shared on the library’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. A weekly supply kit will be available to reserve and pick up for some great Maker fun at home.

March 15: Shamrock garland. Make a small, festive garland from craft paper and twine.

March 22: Paper flowers. Create a paper flower from craft materials.
