TAMPA, Fla. — Michael Angier has published several books in his lifetime, but he’ll tell you the one he enjoyed publishing the most is a book about Army Air Force retired Major Francis Angier.
“When I was four years old, I remember sitting in the dining room table with my mother and brothers when we heard a lot and to me unfamiliar noise. We ran outside just in time to see the fighter jet make another low pass over the house,” Angier said.
“It’s about his aviation career, it’s about growing up on a farm in Vermont and eventually flying over a hundred different airplanes,” he added.
“When he wrote this book, and the book is called 'Ready or Not: Into the Wild Blue, he had that detail that I was just amazed. I asked him one time about epitaph on a tombstones and I said, what would you like on your tombstone and he said besides the years, just a farmer and patriot?”
Francis Angier died earlier this year in July, at the age of 97, due to contributing factors related to COVID-19.
Angier said though his father may be gone, but it’s being able to help his father bring his memoir to fruition that makes him tear up.
