
I’ve always been a walker, at least since I deduced it was easier on the joints than running, but pandemic walking feels different. It comes with a distinct urgency and solace. Since the first week of the pandemic, once the gyms closed, I’ve rarely missed a day. I walk at least five miles daily, often more, always in the morning, sometimes again later.
