ROXBURY, NJ – Some members of the Roxbury High School Interact Club will soon be offering virtual story-telling sessions during which they will read books to children.
The online video sessions, to take place via Google Meet, will occur at 1 p.m. on May 22, May 29 and June 5, all Fridays. “If they go well, we might do it through the end of June,” Interact Club President Camille Guglielmo said.
Guglielmo said she will be one of the Interact Club members reading books to youngsters. She said club members thought the reading sessions might help both kids and parents.
“We know a lot of parents are struggling to keep kids occupied,” Guglielmo said.
The first book on the agenda is Pete the Cat: Firefighter Pete, by James Dean, which will be read by Caitlin Caccavella, Guglielmo said. The plan is to not only read the books but discuss them briefly.
“We are going to try to talk about heroes; firefighters are important people,” she said. “We are going to try to relate it back to what’s going on now.”
So far, three Interact Club members have signed-up to read but Guglielmo said she hopes more will participate.
The readings will be open to all elementary school kids and there will be no limit on the number of people who can tune-in.
The schedule and log-in information can be found here.
