NEW YORK — Follansbee native Dan Bullock has co-authored a book that offers a new approach to global communication.
And with graduation season well under way, the “career skills” content pertaining to the books’ global communication angle can connect local graduates with the skills for international opportunities, according to the Brooke High School graduate who lives and works in New York City.
Published in March, “How to Communicate Effectively with Anyone, Anywhere: Your Passport to Connecting Globally” (Career Press 2021) was written by Bullock and Rod Sanchez, a native of Dayton.
Bullock graduated from West Virginia University’s School of Journalism in public relations and pursued work in communications, ultimately becoming a language and communications specialist/trainer at the United Nations Secretariat, training diplomats and global UN staff.
“At the same time, I serve as a professor of intercultural and business communications at New York University’s School of Professional Studies within the Division of Programs in Business and Master’s in Public Relations and Corporate Communications program,” he explained in an e-mail.
He previously was the director of corporate communications at a leading NYC publications firm with corporate clients including TD Bank and Pfizer. He contributes to Harvard Business Review, the Wall Street Journal, Business.com, HuffPost and Thrive Global, where he writes about the intersection of global business communication, intercultural communication and professional development.
Sanchez also is an NYU professor and is an award-winning illustrator.
The book “reveals a new approach to global communication across key performance areas, including effective e-mailing, public speaking and negotiation, based on the successful business communication and intercultural communication skills workshops the authors have delivered over the years to professionals and corporate executives from the United Nations, Google, Bloomberg,” according to promotional material.
“Through introspective exercises, practical global tips and global psychological strategies, professionals can upgrade their thinking to develop a global mindset and become a global communicator,” it adds.
