Resident Evil Village: How to Save

Players can manually save their progress in Resident Evil Village by interacting with a Typewriter and selecting 'Save Game.' Players have plenty of slots to utilize in case they want to run multiple files on one game. For example, after completing a boss battle, players may opt to back up their save to replay the boss battle without losing any progress.

Resident Evil Village does feature a simple photo mode. Photo mode has become a common feature in most modern games. However, Resident Evil Village’s photo mode is not as intricate as that of Ghost of Tsushima or Assassins Creed: Valhalla

Not only will players be able to save their game at Typewriters, but they’ll usually find the merchant, The Duke, nearby. It’s not always guaranteed, but it does happen more often than not. Thankfully, Resident Evil Village does a good job of marking points of interest on the plater's map. They’ll be able to identify nearby save points and quickly run to one and save if Lady Dimitrescu is hot on their tail.

The History of Typewriters in Resident Evil

If fans have been paying attention, they’ll know typewriters haven’t been included in a Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 4. Before RE4, Players would use Ink Ribbons to save their games manually. However, they only had a limited number of Ink Ribbons and had to make sure enough progress was made before spending one. Of course, Ink Ribbons were long before the invention of autosave popularized by Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Resident Evil Biohazard used recorders in place of typewriters to do the same thing. Thankfully, Resident Evil Village kept up the tradition of manual save points while making sure to autosave at every important moment. Players can assume that when the game saves, or when they stumble upon a typewriter, that something horrifying is probably about to happen.
