Trafford residents will get their nearby Shop’n Save back shortly, as the new owners for the Broadway Boulevard location in southern Monroeville prepare to reopen the store on May 13.
“We redid the whole decor, new painting, changed out old cases, redid the floor,” said owner and manager John Rohaley, who also owns Shop’n Save locations in Connellsville and Fairchance. “It was mostly cosmetic. Anyone who shopped here will be surprised by the changes they’ll see.”
Rohaley and his business partner, who owns Shop’n Save locations in Youngwood, Walnut Hill and northern West Virginia, were initially planning to open in October, “but we had to work out some things with the landlord and it took a while,” he said.
With the previous owner opting not to renew the lease, “it seemed like a nice community and location,” Rohaley said.
The store will reopen with a full-service butcher and expanded deli, along with an in-store bakery and fresh produce. Rohaley recently put out a call for prospective employees to re-staff the store.
He said he’s been stopped by people passing by to ask when the store will reopen.
“We’re all super appreciative of the feedback we’ve gotten while working on the store,” Rohaley said. “Everyone seems really positive and happy that it’s coming back to the area.”
Shop’n Save at 4548 Broadway Boulevard will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., beginning May 13.
