After over a year and a half of hardships and disasters, the Quincy Friends of the Plumas County Library are delighted to announce they’re finally having a BOOK SALE!
Their next sale will run for TWO DAYS instead of the usual three. Mark your calendars so you don’t miss out. Here are the dates and times:
Friday, October 8 from 12 pm to 7 pm
Saturday, October 9 from 10 am to 3 pm.
Everyone is invited to attend on both days. As usual, the sale will be held in the Community Room of the Plumas County Library in Quincy. There will be a huge number of books to choose from, both fiction and non-fiction, with something for everyone’s taste.
As always, children’s books are free, and you and your children are invited to select 20 free books per family. For safety and convenience, all children’s books will be displayed outside.
The sale will also include a silent auction that everyone can participate in. These silent auctions feature books of greater than average value, rarity, or special interest. Bidding can be exciting, so everyone is invited to join the fun.
In compliance with the county-wide public health mandate, face masks will be required of everyone over the age of two. It’s also requested that you bring your own reusable bags to carry your books home.
The Friends would like to make everyone aware that they CANNOT ACCEPT BOOK DONATIONS AT THIS TIME, though it’s hoped this will change in the near future. Meanwhile, people are asked not to request exceptions to this rule and not to leave unwanted books on the library porch as this places an enormous burden on library volunteers and staff.
Proceeds from the Friends’ book sales provide direct support to the Quincy Library for the purchase of books, media, electronic equipment, and other needs. The Friends are also hoping to help the Greenville community rebuild its book collection after the devastating fire that destroyed their library.
In these hard times, our libraries are more important than ever as a resource and a safe haven. The Friends thank everyone for supporting them in the past and hope to continue working together in the future for the good of our community libraries.
